TWIN FALLS – The Pro-Life Ministry of St. Edward’s Church in Twin Falls sponsored a Suicide Awareness Mass and Eucharistic Procession across the Perrine Bridge in Twin Falls on June 29.
Father Julio Vicente, pastor at St. Edward’s, asked the parish to march and pray in memory of those who have died by jumping off the bridge as well others in the community who have died by suicide. The event was also held to call attention to the tragedy of suicide and awareness of Idaho’s “988” suicide crisis hotline.
The large turnout for the event included many who have lost a loved one to suicide.
The event began with a Mass at St. Edwards celebrated by Father Julio. After the Mass, Father Pawel Pawliszko, parochial vicar, and Deacon Jamie Alamillo assisted with the procession across the bridge and back during which those marching prayed the rosary in both English and Spanish. The marchers carried signs with the “988” Idaho suicide and crisis hotline that people who are contemplating suicide may call.
The event ended at sunset with a Benediction on the overlook platform.
