Bishop asks Saint Alphonsus to pull sponsorship of Boise Pride event

BOISE – Diocese of Boise Bishop Peter Christensen today asked that Saint Alphonsus Health System pull its sponsorship from this weekend’s Boise Pride Festival.

Much of what the festival promotes is in direct conflict with the teachings of the Catholic Church.

“We oppose the messages promoted through events like the ‘Drag Story Time’ and ‘Drag Kids’ for obvious reasons, particularly the exploitation of children and young adults,” the Bishop stated.

The Bishop’s office has received numerous messages asking why a Catholic hospital would endorse events that are contrary to Church teachings.
