Part-Time Receptionist

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Receptionist
- Speak and act in a manner appropriate for a Catholic parish.
- Answer general phone calls and voice messages; change voicemail as needed due to holidays, Masses, office closures, etc.
- Greet, welcome, and serve the people who walk in (questions, appointments, copies etc.).
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Mass Intentions
- Keep priests’ daily Mass calendar up-to-date for Pastor and Parochial Vicars.
- Write recipient name, requestor name, and scheduled date in Mass book; print and post schedule in Vestry for priests regularly.
- Write out Mass cards (address & send out, as needed); order more cards as needed.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Recognize and support the mission, policies and practices of the Catholic Church and Diocese of Boise.
- Work cooperatively with other staff, volunteers and parishioners.
- Maintain professional standards of confidentiality.
- Demonstrates excellent communications, interpersonal and critical-listening skills.
- Use appropriate means of communication for the workplace effectively: email, voicemail, etc.
- Manage multiple tasks and use good judgment to set priorities.
- Complete diocesan safe environment training and pass a criminal background check.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required, associate’s degree or higher preferred.
- Experience working in Catholic environment preferred.
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, and use of office machines required.
Essential Physical Abilities
- Ability to perform essential duties without endangering self or other employees.
- Motor skills needed for equipment operation and general office duties.
- Sufficient personal mobility, agility, strength, and physical reflexes, with or without reasonable accommodation, which permits the employee to move or traverse in an office environment for an extended period of time, operate office equipment, to reach, stoop, bend, and stretch in filing materials, lift up to 25 pounds, and work in a general office environment.
- Converse with others to express oneself and/or exchange information.

- Practicing Roman Catholic preferred.
- Respect and sensitivity to all cultural groups.
- Professional and kind in demeanor.
- Ability to utilize technology relative to the requirements of the position.
