Position Overview
The Middle School Math Teacher is responsible for teaching mathematics to students in grades 6–8. Courses range from general middle school math through advanced levels such as Pre-Algebra, Algebra I, and Geometry, based on placement. The teacher will design and deliver lessons that challenge and support students, cultivate a love of learning, and equip them with strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills. The role also involves contributing to the broader life of the school by participating in school events, collaborating with colleagues, and supporting our STREAM (Science, Technology, Religion, Engineering, Arts, Math) initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging math instruction aligned with Idaho State Standards and the Catholic identity of the school.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of students.
- Use a variety of teaching methods, including technology integration and hands-on learning, to promote deep understanding.
- Regularly assess student learning using both formative and summative methods, and provide timely feedback.
- Communicate effectively with parents regarding student progress, classroom expectations, and upcoming projects.
- Collaborate with middle school colleagues to create interdisciplinary learning experiences and ensure vertical alignment of curriculum.
- Foster a classroom culture of respect, responsibility, and faith.
- Serve as a role model of Catholic values and actively support the spiritual formation of students.
- Participate in professional development, faculty meetings, and school committees as needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field required; Master’s degree preferred.
- Current Idaho Teaching Certificate, or eligibility to obtain one.
- Endorsement in Mathematics (grades 5–9 or 6–12) strongly preferred.
- Prior teaching experience at the middle school level is desirable.
- Strong classroom management skills and a commitment to high academic standards.
- Practicing Catholic preferred, with a commitment to supporting the mission of Catholic education.
