Classroom Aide
Position Type: Full-Time and Part-Time (two positions available)

Holy Family Catholic School is an elementary Preschool through 8th grade Catholic school in Coeur d'Alene with exceptional academic, faith-based traditions and a supportive community.

Working in a Catholic faith-filled environment, the Aide helps present and reinforce learning concepts and supports a safe, stimulating environment for the development of the whole student.

Job Functions

  • Upholds the philosophy of Catholic education and stewardship and models the teachings of the Catholic Church.
  • Provides support to the teacher to ensure a safe and stimulating educational environment.
  • Assists the teacher in planning and preparation for daily activities and aids the instructional efforts of the teacher.
  • Assists the teacher in preparing lesson outlines, plans, and curricula in assigned areas.
  • Prepares various teaching aids for use in the classroom under the direction of the teacher, including activity sheets, drawings, and similar handouts.
  • Presents subject matter to children, under the guidance of a teacher, using a variety of methods including stories, discussions, and role playing.
  • Leads classroom activities and may confer with parents on children's progress in the absence of the teacher.
  • Assists children individually or in groups with lesson assignments to present or reinforce learning concepts.
  • May lead, guide, and train volunteers performing related work, and may participate in the recruitment of volunteers as appropriate.
  • Attends faculty and staff meetings as needed.
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

  • Ability to understand and follow safety procedures and specific instructions and procedures.
  • Child-supervision skills and the ability to provide activities for children that encourage healthy growth.
  • Ability to provide a supportive and caring environment for children.
  • Skill in preparing instructional aids and plans.
  • Ability to maintain professional confidentiality at all times.
  • Willingness to adhere to the Code of Conduct and the policies and procedures of the school and the Catholic Diocese of Boise.
  • Participation in school faith activities such as Mass, prayer, retreats, and service projects, as well as school-sponsored events and community activities.
  • Practicing Catholic or person of faith with a desire to model the teachings of Jesus in attitude and example while upholding the teachings and traditions of the Catholic Church.
  • Must pass a background check and complete Safe Environment Training in accordance with diocesan policies.

Desired Qualifications

  • High school diploma, with at least one year of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
  • Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year-for-year basis.
  • Applicants for Preschool, Pre-Kindergarten, and Aftercare Aide positions must be willing to complete Safe Environment training; obtain CPR / First Aid (Child/Adult) certification.
  • Experience working in a school or Catholic school setting preferred.

Compensation is commensurate with experience. These positions will remain open until filled.
